Todays spotlight is on Melissa Hammann from Riviera Outdoor Decor, who shows off her skills at eclectic design in this colorful patio feature.
About The Job
The Sunbrella fabric and trims Melissa chose for the drapes and cushions are the main focus of this design. To compliment the subdued surroundings, she chose a combination of bright blue and ochre with a crisp black and white geometric pattern. The result is a joyful burst of pure color that easily catches the viewers eye.
Wisely, she chose to use accents in earthy, subdued materials and finishes, such as wood, wrought iron, ceramic tiles, and shells in natural shades of cream, black, and brown. Unlike the bold colors and patterns of the drapes and cushions, the accents are all decidedly organic. So while the colors may catch the eye, it is the accents that moves the eye through the scene and serves as a frame for the beauty of the natural surroundings.
This is where Helser Brothers hardware makes its presence known. Melissa chose to incorporate items from our Artigiani line, using a Swaying Leaf finial, Twisted Rope rod, and a long time staple, the Artigiani bracket, all of which are coated in our weather resistant zinc undercoat and finished in 025 Earth.
In isolation, this hardware choice might seem at odds with the stark white draperies and its decidedly non-floral patterned trim, but in this setting it just makes sense. The eye naturally flows from the patterned trim to the curves of the rod, down the swoop of the finial, and out into the flower flecked yard and sparkling pool. It serves to smoothly transition the viewer from uplifting excitement to blissful relaxation.
In short, Melissa’s design successfully incites the feeling of having a tropical paradise in your own backyard.
