Top Treatments
Comfortex offers 7 different top treatments that can make your shades really stand out (or, if you want, not stand out). Below are details om each kind of top treatment that is currently available and what color, size, and add-ons are available for each.
Direct Mount
Direct Mount roller shades do not have a top treatment. Instead, it consists of two brackets that serve as end-caps with the roller tube mounted between them. Alternatively, for Cordless Direct Mount shades, there is an option to add a DecoBar, end brackets connected by a bar that runs parallel with the roller tube. DecoBars are available in black or white and can be mounted to the ceiling or wall. Direct Mount shades have 4 tube size options ranging from 1 1/2″ to 3 ¼”.
Curved Cassette
The Curved Cassette top treatment features a box that partially encloses the roller tube with a curved front side and end-caps. This treatment can be finished in white, black, bronze, silver, and vanilla, with an option to add a fabric insert to the front side in the same fabric as the shade. The Curved Cassette comes in 3 sizes: Small, Medium, and Large.
Square Cassette
The Square Cassette top treatment features a box that partially encloses the roller tube with a flat front side and end-caps. This treatment can be finished in white, black, bronze, silver, or vanilla, with an option to wrap the front side in the same fabric as the shade. The Square Cassette comes in one size.
Fascia Mount
The Fascia top treatment is a flat front with mitered corners, somewhat similar to the Cassette mounts. It is available in white, black, bronze, silver, and vanilla, and cannot be fabric wrapped. Bottom and side channels can be used for improved light control. It comes in 2 sizes: 3″ and 4″ tall.
Deluxe Valance
The Deluxe Valance top treatment consists of a flat front that smoothly bends into a return arm. The treatment is finished with a continuous strip of the same fabric used for the shade, held in place by a clear plastic frame. The Deluxe Valance only comes in one size as standard. If you wish to have a valance that is longer than the shade or covers multiple shade tubes, you can request a Continuous Valance.
Fabric Cornice
The Fabric Cornice top treatment consists of a flat front that smoothly bends into a return arm and is fully wrapped in the same fabric as the shade. The Fabric Cornice comes in 3 sizes: 4″, 6″, and 8″ tall. If you wish to have a valance that is longer than the shade or covers multiple shade tubes, you can request a Continuous Valance.
Pocket Mount
The Pocket top treatment is similar to the Cassette mount, except it fully encases the tube and must be mounted inside the window frame. It can be used with side and bottom channels to provide the highest level of protection against light leakage. It comes in one size and can be finished in a white powdercoat or anodized aluminum.
Shade Fabric Options
When it comes to variety, these shades don’t stop at just the top treatments! Comfortex offers 400+ fabric colors divided between 50 collections. There are 8 types of fabric, including Light Filtering and Blackout, as well as screens with 6 types of openness ranging from 1% to 10%.
Openness refers to how tightly the screen fibers are woven together and how much space is left ‘open’ between them, resulting in different opacities. On the right is a mock-up of what the opacity of a 1%, 5%, and 10% shade may look like.
Color also plays a part in the opacity. A white shade with 5% openness will result in an opacity equal to a black shade with 3% openness. The view through lighter colored shades softly diffuses light and blurs the view. Meanwhile, darker shades provided a desaturated but crisp view, much like a pair of sunglasses. On the left is a mock-up of the difference between a white and black shade.
